What does it mean to “KYC” your account?

Know Your Customer (KYC) standards are a set of guidelines and regulations that financial institutions use to verify the identity of their customers. This is critical in assessing customer risk and is a legal requirement to comply with Anti-Money Laundering (AML) laws.

How do I verify my account?

To verify your account on Revix, you will need to have the following documents and information at hand when you sign up:

  • A proof of address with your full legal name and surname and is no more than 3 months old
  • Your ID card or passport or other identity document that has your legal full name and surname.

Here are some useful tips for verifying your account:

  • Ensure that you are in a well-lit room when you attempt to verify your account.
  • Your face should be clearly visible.
  • The information on your identity document must be legible.
  • Your identity document must display your full legal name and surname.

How to verify your account on the Revix app: 

  1. Let us know how you intend to use your account as well as the amount you intend to invest over the next month and year.
  2. Indicate your employment status, your investing experience and the source of your funds.
  3. Upload an official document proving your physical address, such as an invoice or bank statement.
  4. Get your ID, driver’s licence or passport ready.
  5. Position the document into the frame as indicated.
  6. Make sure the room is well-lit to capture your face’s biometric data.
  7. We will check your documents and verify your account within 48 hours.

Why do I need to verify my account?

As mandated by Anti-Money Laundering (AML) laws, we have put in place various verification tiers that allow our users to access increased deposit and withdrawal limits. To ensure that your account doesn’t experience any limitations, we recommend that you upgrade to the various verification tiers as they become available.

What is a valid proof of address document?

A proof of address document is an official document that has your legal full name and surname and is not older than 3 months. 

The following documents are accepted for proof of address: 

  • Bank Statements
  • Credit Card Statements
  • Utility Bills
  • Payroll Statements
  • Insurance Statements
  • Official Tax Documents
  • Residence Certificate

Kindly be advised that we do not accept PO Box addresses as a proof of address document.

Why was my KYC verification rejected?

We use an advanced Know-Your-Customer (KYC) provider that makes use of artificial intelligence to verify your details. Most of the time they make life very easy but sometimes they get stuck.

If there are any issues with your verification, our team will reach out to you, however if you still haven’t heard from us, please feel free to reach out to our support team.

Some common reasons for your proof of ID not being accepted are:

  • The document was reported lost or stolen.
  • The document has inconsistent information, such as:
  • The type of document uploaded is not the same as the one you selected. e.g. You selected a Drivers licence and uploaded a scan of your passport.
  • Information such as your name, gender, document number, nationality or expiry date doesn't match the MRZ (Machine Readable Zone) on your document.
  • The document is a photograph of a screen, a photocopy, or is a screenshot.
  • The document appears to be digitally tampered with.
  • The document shows signs of photo alteration.
  • No face was detected in the document.
  • The document is in black and white. It should be in colour.
  • Information on the document is obscured.
  • The watermark on the expected document is missing.
  • The document has been cut, damaged or has punch holes in it.
  • The front or back of the document was submitted twice.
  • The document is too dark.
  • The document is obscured by glare.
  • The document is too blurry.
  • The photograph in the document is covered.
  • The document is damaged. (cut, torn, water damage etc.)
  • You are under the age of 18 or 21 depending on your jurisdiction.

Some common reasons for your proof of address not being accepted are:

  • The document is older than 3 months.
  • The document is of a low quality (blurred, has glare etc.)
  • The document is a photograph of a printout.
  • The document is a photograph of your proof of address on a computer screen.
  • The document is a screenshot of your proof of address.
  • The document appears to be damaged (cut, torn, water damage etc.)
  • The document appears to be altered.

The document provided is not supported. Supported documents include:

  • Bank Statements (given that the bank statement shows your residential address and not a PO Box)
  • Credit Card Statements
  • Utility Bills
  • Payroll Statements
  • Insurance Statements
  • Official Tax Documents
  • Residence Certificate
  • The document has the wrong name on it.
  • The document is for an address outside of your registered country.
